Moodle 3.5 offers essential features to assist Moodle sites with GDPR compliance. It also focuses on enhanced usability and accessibility.
GDPR Compliance Features
A new site administration area in the Users tab – Privacy and policies – now presents a Moodle administrator with a number of options.
In privacy settings, an administrator can request an age check before a new user can access the site, and can provide a link to contact the organisation’s Data Protection Officer. In Policy settings, the administrator can specify how to handle user agreements to site and privacy policies.
Further privacy functionality available under Privacy settings and Policy settings includes features to handle subject access requests and erasure requests, define and maintain a data registry, define or manage and track policies and user agreements.

Usability Improvements
Moodle 3.5 is also fitted with various user experience and performance improvements. One of them is the use of Bootstrap 4 stable which means enhanced appearance for users and better theming options for developers.

Question Bank Improvements
This Moodle Users Association funded project means tags may be added and filtered directly in the question bank and when adding random questions.

Messaging Improvements
Moodle HQ also made improvements to the messaging functionality of Moodle to allow for future expansion. It involves some changes to the database tables and message events, so in order to prevent loss of message history, Moodle recommends that users with a messaging related plugin may have to update their code.
