When you step into South Dublin County Council’s (SDCC) County Library in Tallaght you get a real sense of technology. There are computers in every corner of the ultra-modern building with people of all ages typing and browsing away, as well as books on every subject imaginable. The library is a true reflection of SDCC’s progressive attitude and their use of technology to improve and enable the lives of people living in the community.

 
The National Digital Learning Repository (NDLR) provides services and support to enable the sharing of digital learning content and teaching experience across Universities, Institutes of Technologies and associated Colleges supported by the HEA. The NDLR mission is "to promote and support Higher Education sector staff in the collaboration, development and sharing of learning resources and associate teaching practices". The NDLR provides an online repository and community portal to support collaboration and sharing of teaching and learning resources within the Irish Third Level Education sector.

As part of its on-going knowledge and information management strategy, the RCSI Institute for Leadership & Healthcare Management (RCSI ILHM) wanted to extend their services for healthcare professionals to include an e-Portfolio.

The airline industry is highly regulated and all pilots must continually refresh their skills by undertaking compulsory annual training courses. Aptly named, ground-school, the pilot training courses at Aer Lingus incorporate simulator training with procedural and aircraft operation training. Up to now, the majority of the ground-school programme has been delivered in a classroom environment with 10 pilots in each class. All 500 pilots must complete the course each year in order to maintain their flying status in accordance with EU regulations.
